2008 Jiangsu Teacher Training

In an effort to improve the quality of local ESL teachers in China,
together with Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, we offer the following program for any interested teachers.

Jiangsu Teacher Training

The overall intention of this training program is for experienced international teachers to help train local Chinese English teachers across Jiangsu province.

For teachers wishing

to play a part in the rapid educational development of Jiangsu,
to broaden their horizons,
to experience the energy and excitement of teaching and travelling in this province, and
to absorb some of this fascinating culture

this program is a perfect opportunity.

This year's program takes place from

7th July 2008 - 18th July 2008

in Teacher Training Colleges across Jiangsu.

This includes an orientation period, 10 days teaching, 1 day tour and 1 free day.

Those enrolling in the Course must have previous teaching experience, although do not necessarily require a teaching certificate. See below for further details.

This training program is hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, and delivered by one of its units, Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange (JESIE).

Course Content

This course will consist of 50% English Language skills and 50% Teaching Methodology. All the teaching material will be provided.

The "students" are all local Chinese English teachers and classes are capped at 25 students.

Each teaching day consists of 5 teaching periods, with each teaching period lasting 45 minutes.

Who should apply?

Those wishing to participate in this program should meet the following requirements:

Native English speaker with citizenship of the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, South Africa or New Zealand.
A degree/major in Education, English or Literature OR a valid Teaching Certificate.
A minimum of 4 years teaching experience.
Excellent Communication skills.

Conditions

Please read the following conditions carefully.

Travel Costs
- You must pay your way to the course. If you are outside of China then we can advise you on airfare shortcuts and provide visa assistance.
- If you are in China then you must show that you have a valid visa and pay your own costs to Nanjing.
Salary Package
- The salary for participants of this course is RMB3,000**.
- All course materials (books, etc) are included.
- Free tour of Nanjing and individual host city.
- Free accommodation in Nanjing and individual host city.
- Three meals per day provided free of charge throughout the program.
- Free transport from Nanjing/Shanghai airport/station to host city on arrival and transport from host city to Nanjing/Shanghai airport/station on departure.
** It is possible to opt for a two-week touring package in lieu of monetary compensation. This tour would take place upon completion of the training program. Further details available upon request.
